The Challenge
Fathom's experience in the wine industry is extensive.
From developing bottle labels to multimedia presentations,
our expertise has introduced us to some of the largest
producers in California. One of these clients, Beaulieu
Vineyard, had been working with Fathom in the development
of several marketing materials over the years. When it's
holding company, United Distillers & Vintners (UDV),
saw the success of materials developed under the Fathom
team, they requested our assistance.
Over the years, UDV had struggled with properly training
it's sales force, employees and affiliates on the complex
world of wine. Packaged presentations needed to be created
in order to give these people a firm grasp of the industry.
Fathom's strong background in presentations and branding,
combined with our experience in the wine industry, made
us ideal candidates for the job.

The Process
The presentations needed to cover a variety of important facts including the
harvesting process, climate implications, varieties, marketing statistics and
the industry's history. The volume of information required us to divide the
course into 8 core presentations, each covering a key segment. In order to
make the learning process efficient, we designed slides to be inspiring and
clear. In addition, since the program was directed towards international audiences,
we minimized text and leveraged diagrams and graphics when possible. Advertising
campaigns, philosophies and the future of the industry helped make the course
interesting and encouraging to all, especially those being introduced to the
business for the first time. |

The Solution
The combined strength of the 8 presentations far outweighed any learning tool
created by UDV in it's history. It's efficiency and impact allowed the material
to be used in a class or viewed as an individual. When used in a class environment,
less time was needed to explain important facts, when used individually, less
time was required to become enabled. The journey created through the slides
raised the standard in corporate wine education seminars and made learning
fun and inspiring. The strategy and format of the course is still used and
proven effective today. |
